(More balanced presentation from what I've read.) The other songs are debatable if or how much they differ from the original. 'Search and Destroy' and one other song is reported to be quite different sounding than the original release. I have not heard the original US.)Įmbassy LP of Bowie mix - From what I've read, a different mastering/mix than the original. (I have an LP from (probably) the late 70s, made in Holland and it is superb. LP of Bowie mix - This is my favorite of all versions. Remastered CD of Bowie mix - this is quite good. Original CD of Bowie mix - this is pretty bad. So, one has has different masterings of each mix to take into account. Sometimes during this period the band was billed as Iggy and the Stooges or sometimes even just Iggy Pop, but officially it seems that the band was called simply The Stooges. The Stooges was the officially used name, through various personnel changes until the band completely fell apart in the summer of 1971. (For a few early gigs they adopted the name The Psychedelic Stooges, but this didn't last long). The original band of Iggy, Dave Alexander and the Asheton brothers was called The Stooges. And again, after Ron's sad passing and James' rejoining the band, the name reverted to Iggy And The Stooges once more. When Iggy got back together with the Ashetons in 2003 the band was once again called simply The Stooges (though the billing of the band on posters and for live gigs varied as before). When Raw Power was eventually released, in the spring of 1973, it was officially credited to Iggy And The Stooges and for the remainder of this band's existence this was the usually billing they received in concert too (though once again, some gigs merely credit Iggy Pop).

So they persuaded MainMan to bring over Ron and Scott Asheton, although Ron was sort of demoted to playing bass. They quickly came up with lots of new songs, but couldn't find suitable musicians to play on the proposed record. James had been in the last version of the Stooges and Iggy knew he could write well with James. In 1972 Iggy was signed to MainMan, the company behind Bowie, and was flown to London to record a solo album.
